gladiator sandals

ok, so i'm probably going to offend a few people out there... but i just can not get in to this trend. however, might i add, i have seen them on a few people and thought "ok that looks good on them", but i just can't. and i'll tell you why. i don't have the longest, leanest legs, so when you get a flat sandal and then a strap or two around the ankle, it is bound to make your leg look shorter. i need all the help i can get when it comes to elongating my legs, so for all the tall, skinny girls out there- enjoy the gladiator sandals! two trends in one- metallics and gladiator

i just put this one in because honestly, who would buy those?

ruffle skirts

i really liked these ruffle skirts from gap. they are a good length, and light enough for the summer. it's kind of like that prairie skirt thing a few years ago, but not as long. i remember when i first bought one of those skirts, my mom asked me if i went shopping in the pioneer section. funny, mom. and even funnier, she ended up getting her own prairie skirt later. look, she's got her gladiator sandals on!

white watches

ever since i saw shayne from the bachelor wearing her white watch i have been on the prowl to find one, and last week i finally did. i got this first one here from guess and i love it. it's waterproof which is great since i'm in the shampoo bowl often. and i just read that white watches are hot this summer, so go out and get one!

peep lids...

this Easter, why not do something festive with your makeup? try lavender, pink or aqua. think easter marshmallow peeps. my fav is to do a few fun shades in small panels of the lid. i saw this picture online and it was pretty much what i am talking about. and i loved these lips, too.

hair rut?

I went to cosmo.com to check out a few tips and their site is really good! There are a ton of beauty tips, fashion, hair and makeup, perfume, everything! I saw these cute styles for anybody who wants to try a fun style for a day.

just one more pair...

ok, i din't make this blog so i could just show everything i buy, but i HAVE to show yet another pair of shoes that just came tonight. if i could think up a perfect shoe this would be it. it is my "sole-mate". after this, i promise i'll actually put some real beauty stuff on here. thanks for bearing with me....

don't forget the handbag

my mom loves this bag from Cole Haan. It's called the "Genevieve" collection. If I was a really good daughter I would buy it for her. But if I did by it I would probably keep it for myself because it's super cute. Maybe I'll just tell my dad to get it for her....

nails

I have to update nails, too. Think Indian. (The dot, not the feathers) We are still seeing jewel-tones like we did last fall, but just brighter. There are bright pinks, red, gold, even blue nails! And one trend that is still holding on strong is the dark nails. just more eggplant than black this season. Maybe as we are coloring our easter eggs this month we can be inspired by all the bright colors and wake up those drab mom-nails. Happy painting!

Jessica Simpson?

I am so excited for my new shoes to get here! They are both from nordstrom.com (online shopping is very troublesome for me) But they are from Jessica Simpson's new collection! And I'm loving so much of her stuff lately. Surprising, actually. I am so ready for warmer weather, and there's nothing like new shoes to ring in the new season!

mac spring/summer

Go to maccosmetics.com to check out the new spring/summer trends. for the lips try a fun red, don't go clown, though. with that red lip do a neutral eye shadow, but make sure your lashes look dark and defined so you don't look like you forgot to put on half of your makeup. If red just doesn't do it for you , another trend is smoky silver eye shadow. apply any shade of silver or grey to the entire lid, once again making sure you have enough mascara and eyeliner to make the eye pop. And finally, you can try a neutral shade of shadow, but go metallic. like bronze or gold with a soft pink lip and lots of gloss. think day at the beach sun-kissed glow.

New MAC Collection

I was just at Nordstrom today and saw the new Smoke Signals collection. The smoky eye look comes in a cool pallette with blues, black, and grey, and a warm one with deep burgundy and browns. There were some really pretty eyeliners and new pigments, too. Here are some pics.

Always apply a highlight shade under the eyebrow and in the tear duct area. This creates at an open, bright-eyed look. Younger women can choose shadows or creams with shimmer; older women should stick with sheer, matte colors like vanilla. Highlight shades include: light pink, white, vanilla, gold, iridescent, and champagne.

Carmidy

For those of you who watch my FAVORITE show... TLC's What Not to Wear, you know who I'm talking about. I want to make a tribute to Carmindy because I think she is so amazing! She makes applying makeup make sense. She can transform a woman in minutes, but the best part is, that woman can actually go home and re-create the look! She has a book out called the Five Minute Face, and I would totally recommend going out and getting it TODAY. Also, you can visit www.carmindy.com for some great tips as well.

How should I do my hair today?

HAIR from Allure magazine
Soft, broken waves look cool and carefree.
Blow-dry hair using your fingers. Then, select random sections and wrap around a medium-barrel curling iron, release, and tousle.

Forget shabby. These chignons are simply chic. (And that doesn't mean overdone.)
Apply texturizing cream before blowing hair out. Follow with a flatiron to make ends extra-straight. Then, gather hair into a low ponytail using a brush—and then your fingers—to create subtle grooves in your hair. Secure with an elastic band, and twist the ponytail until it loops up around itself. Secure your chignon with another elastic, but leave the ends loose and slightly fanned out.
